Morning Dew (Donk)

Independence Day 2026 brought a surprise drop from Beyoncé with "Morning Dew (Donk)," the first promotional single for the upcoming 20th-anniversary edition of B'Day. The track carries a unique history, having been recorded in 2013 during sessions for her self-titled album before sitting unreleased until a demo leak sparked a viral trend on TikTok in 2023. Three years later, the song officially arrived, blending the sensual production style of her 2013 era with the brash mid-2000s aesthetic that defined her sophomore record.

Pharrell Williams produced the slow-groove R&B number alongside co-producer Beyoncé, reuniting creative forces from her early solo career. Pitchfork called the release a smart archival move that successfully threads together sonic textures from two distinct periods of her discography. Lyrically, the song maintains a confident and sensual tone with lines like "Girl, you sexy in the mornin' / You know you turn me on, babe," reflecting the vocal delivery typical of that specific era.

The accompanying lyric video directed by Cliff Watts utilized archival footage from the B'day era mixed with new imagery to underscore the retrospective nature of the campaign. Released simultaneously across major streaming platforms, the single debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Beyoncé's eighth number-one single and her 25th top-ten hit. A remix pack featuring three new versions, including an explicit cut with Jay-Z, followed in September 2026. [modifier]
