Macron Trappes shooting statement
par Pavellim: Emmanuel Macron
Macron standing at the Mairie de Trappes in Yvelines calling it "the first" is the part I can't get past. That word is doing a lot of work, and it's not honest work. What the morning of October 23, 2026 actually looked like in Trappes and La Verrière: a man in a gray Renault Clio drove around with an automatic weapon and fired bursts into passersby. A gas station, a medical center, a children's playground, other spots too. A 26-year-old man of African origin was killed. Five people were wounded, and one of them was a 12-year-old girl who took about eight gunshot wounds. Kevin T., 39, was detained quickly. A submachine gun and tear gas grenades were on him. His apartment was later found booby-trapped. Then comes the statement. What happened that day, per Macron, was a turning point, because it was the first time a terrorist act had been planned with the aim of killing compatriots and children over their skin color or their religion. France has been here before, repeatedly. People have been deliberately killed in this country for their religion and their origin, not once but again and again. Calling this one "the first" isn't a slip of the tongue. It bends the record on purpose, and the people who already know that history are supposed to just nod along.
