Nurse John critiques nursing school and care plans

Nurse John is calling out a brutal reality where nursing schools allegedly don't actually want students to become nurses but instead want them to fail the whole profession. He says this aggressive weeding out process stems from how insanely competitive admissions have become, creating an environment with professors who actively bring you down and colleagues who try to take you out of the profession entirely. Then he shifts to complaining about care plans, admitting he hates them and doesn't even know who invented that crap in the first place. A care plan is supposed to be a research-based document detailing wound care and procedural steps, but Nurse John argues it is practically useless because documentation must happen after the action is taken anyway. He describes a scenario where a patient explodes their shit on the bed and asserts that reviewing a care plan is impossible due to time constraints. Instead of following written steps, his priority is calling housekeeping and getting assistance immediately. So when I was in nursing school we have this thing called a care plan. You probably know what care... I hate care plan. I don't even know who invented that crap. Well actually tell the audience so they know what a care plan is. A care plan is it's a paper that is you're supposed to fill that up and tell us exactly how you're going to take care of this patient, their wounds, and the steps that you're going to do that is that has to be research based evidence base all of this base but at the end of the day you actually don't have time to look at that care plan right because if somebody yeah on a practical level it's useless it is useless because just do the thing yes and then document it after exactly like when someone explodes their shit on the bed i don't have time to look at what was number one in my care plan right for c diff my first thing is like call call call housekeeping I need someone with me right now and let's get this shit
