When the Avengers ran into their first incursion and had to choose between destroying a world or letting it collide into theirs and let both get destroyed, Cap quickly made it clear that they will never resort to a necessary evil and destroy an entire world, as he then suggests that they should gather the Infinity Stones and push the worlds away. They agreed to try his way, but deep down they all knew that sooner or later worlds had to be destroyed, as Reed tells T'Challa that they need to teach themselves to do the unthinkable. And so they begin preparing as they implant devices in themselves that will alert them of a new Earth popping up, which is when they would have 8 hours to act before having an earth collide into them. A new earth then popped up causing them to give Cap the gauntlet with the stones for him to push it away only for the stones to get a push back that made them shatter and disappear. Namor therefore crashed out on Cap stating that he's doomed them all causing a bit of a fight until they all returned to the base where Cap tried to calm the team reminding them that they at least pushed the earth away only for them all to side eye him with Tony wondering why it always has to be this way before telling Strange to do it as Strange then lobotomizes Cap and removes all of his memories of the incursion so that the team can comfortably do what's necessary.
