This mother transforms her own body into a living nightmare for her children. Meet the Suriname toad. During mating, the male embeds fertilized eggs directly into the female's back. Her skin swells up, completely swallowing the eggs into deep flesh pockets. Inside her body, the babies skip the tadpole stage and grow directly into miniature frogs. Four months later, the terrifying finale arrives. Dozens of fully formed frogs punch through the pores of her skin and burst into the wild. Her back is left looking like a hollowed out honeycomb, which she will eventually shed to repeat the process.
