Benny Blanco explains his shift from pop music to Latin sounds after feeling bored with the former. His path into the genre began by working on songs rather than as an artist until Mike Towers suggested they collaborate. Following work with artists like Natal Vega, he decided to create his own Latin music. He reached out to friends to feature on the track, finding the process felt comfortable and natural.

I feel like in Latin music, you can push boundaries a lot more and do things that are a little bit more interesting. And, you know, a lot of my favorite Latin music has like almost like a melancholy feeling to it, but it's still like moving and driving and there's like a nostalgia. and I was really bored recently with like pop music. And so I was just making Latin music, not as an artist, just like on songs. And then, you know, Mike Towers was kind of the first guy who was like, yo, let's do one together as an artist. So then we did that. And then, yeah, I was fortunate enough to work with so many artists and like Natal Vega and like all these people. So I was just sitting there and I was like, man, I might as well just make one myself. So I started doing it and I was like, I wonder who I'll get on it. And I just asked all my friends and it just like felt comfortable and natural. And yeah.
