    ⭐Matt Bomer⭐Mark Ruffalo⭐Jonathan Bailey

    Matt Bomer gay roles ranked

What gets me about Matt Bomer's run of queer roles is how little he repeats himself. Take Papi Chulo (2018) first: Sean is a lonely Los Angeles weatherman, and the film pairs him with a day laborer in a bond neither of them saw coming. It's a gentle, offbeat indie about isolation and the strange routes people take toward company 🍿 Then the register flips completely. The Normal Heart (2014) casts him as Felix Turner, a closeted New York Times reporter who gets involved with Mark Ruffalo's Ned Weeks, and that AIDS-era drama is where the heartbreak really lands. It also brought Bomer a Golden Globe Award. Fellow Travelers (2023) stretches the scale out over decades: Hawkins "Hawk" Fuller and Jonathan Bailey's character in a love story with McCarthyism, the Vietnam War era and the AIDS crisis bearing down on it. The chemistry and emotional force are the part nobody forgets. The Boys in the Band (2020) goes the ensemble route, Netflix's adaptation of the play, with Bomer as Donald among a group of gay men sorting through friendship, identity and hard truths. Sharp dialogue, raw moments, cast doing serious work. Maestro (2023) slots him in as David Oppenheim, a close friend of composer Leonard Bernstein, a smaller part that still deepens a biographical drama about Bernstein's personal life and relationships. Across all five, love, desire, heartbreak and the fight for acceptance keep surfacing, and the versatility, sensitivity, depth and screen presence hold up every time 👀
