🎤Diana, Princess of Wales🎤Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex🌍Angola

    Princess Diana Sandra Angola 1997

Twenty-two years after Princess Diana walked through a minefield in Angola, that very spot became a street bearing her name. The journey began back in January 1997 when she traveled to Luanda during a civil war where millions of landmines were scattered across the land. Her mission was simple yet profound: to show the world the devastation these weapons caused ordinary people. At an orthopedic workshop, she encountered Sandra, a teenager who had lost her leg to an explosion and was there to be fitted for a prosthetic limb. Diana watched the process closely, tears streaming down her face as she witnessed the reality of the girl's life. They eventually sat together under a fig tree while a photographer captured the moment, a scene that would become iconic. Sandra later recalled the feeling of that encounter, stating it was an honour to be sitting next to a princess. Tragically, just months after this visit, Princess Diana died in a car crash in Paris. Yet the connection between them never faded. In 2019, Prince Harry returned to Angola to walk in his mother's footsteps and met Sandra again. By then, she was a mother of five children. Through an interpreter, she shared something that moved him deeply. She told him she had a daughter and named her after Diana. The legacy of that meeting lives on not just in memory but in the streets and names of those she touched.
