Andy Burnham Man City questions

Politicians want answers about Andy Burnham's relationship with Manchester City and its ownership, and the whole thing traces back to him defending the club's owners over financial rule violations, per the Daily Mail. Reports also say he met Khaldoon Al Mubarak several times while he was Mayor of Greater Manchester. Burnham's own line was that he'd be really concerned if those owners ever sold up. So the question hanging over all of it: does he owe people an explanation, or is the reaction here way bigger than the actual story?
