Eurostat's 2024 EU-SILC data maps out the average number of persons per household across Europe, revealing a clear spread in family sizes. Slovakia tops the chart with 3.1 people living together, followed by Poland at 2.9. Croatia and Ireland both sit at 2.7, while Cyprus, Romania, and Spain each register 2.5. The next tier groups Greece, Malta, Portugal, Slovenia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czechia, Hungary, and Luxembourg between 2.4 and 2.3. Further down, Austria, Italy, Latvia, Estonia, France, Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, and Sweden range from 2.2 to 2.0. Finland and Lithuania record the smallest averages at 1.9. Across the whole bloc, the European Union average comes in at 2.3.
