    Exxon Joliet refinery shutdown

🚨🇺🇸 Exxon shut down a Midwest refinery making 11 million gallons of fuel a day A power outage hit the Joliet plant in Illinois at 3:30 Sunday afternoon, tripping the safety flare and forcing a plant-wide shutdown. Power came back by 7 p.m., units are being stabilized, and IIR Energy expects normal service by week's end. The cause is still under investigation. In a normal year this is a maintenance item nobody reads about. Joliet runs 264,000 barrels a day for the Midwest, and losing it for a few days would barely register. This is not a normal year. American refiners are running at 98% with no slack anywhere, Ukrainian drones have gutted Russian refining, and Costco is rationing motor oil. Investigators haven't said what caused this one, but everyone will be asking, because hackers reached water systems in a dozen states, the Justice Department found Chinese operators inside Energy Department labs, and Washington has a $10 million bounty on the IRGC's cyber chief.
