Wayne Rooney was 18 years old and playing for Everton when Manchester United faced Dinamo Bucharest in a Champions League qualifying match on August 11, 2004. At that moment, Rooney was regarded globally as a top rising talent before joining Manchester United. Negotiations to sign Wayne Rooney concluded with his transfer to Manchester United on August 30, 2004. Manchester United management invited the fan to the club's official unveiling event.
