Javier Mascherano Barcelona adaptation

The moment Javier Mascherano landed in Barcelona, Pep Guardiola greeted him with classical music and a line he'll never forget: 'Do you know that you come here to NOT play, right?'. That wasn't a dismissal; it was a pivot. Pep convinced the player to switch from midfield to central defender to keep maximum competition alive in the engine room. The gamble paid off for seven years as a starter, racking up eighteen titles along the way. It all comes back to that quote on evolution theory: survival doesn't belong to the strongest or the smartest. It belongs to the species most adaptable to change.
