Christopher Nolan has overtaken James Cameron as the top director for IMAX executives, according to one observer. The Odyssey joins Avengers: Endgame as one of only two films to surpass $50 million globally from IMAX screenings alone on opening weekend, earning $51.8 million ($22.2 million overseas and $29.6 million in the US). It also achieved the second-biggest global debut of all time in IMAX.
