The ethnically European population in the United Kingdom has shown a steady decline over the first decade of the new millennium. In 2000 it stood at roughly 91 to 92 percent. That figure was about 91.5 percent in 2001, then 91 percent in 2002. The share continued to fall, reaching around 90.5 percent in 2003, 90 percent in 2004, and 89.5 percent in 2005. By 2006 the proportion had dropped to 89 percent. It went on to 88.5 percent in 2007, 88 percent in 2008, 87.5 percent in 2009, 87 percent in 2010, and 86 percent in 2011. The trend persisted
