@mason_247The whole song came from a joke Tate McRae cracked in the room, according to Ryan Tedder. He said he figured she'd either just gotten out of a relationship or was maybe starting to see someone, and he was doing what he always does: listening, waiting for the magic moment, scribbling down whatever the artist says the entire time. Artists assume he's texting someone. He isn't. So Tate says it as a joke, something about being so stressful and some days literally just wanting to make a lot of money and be her own housewife. Julia starts dying laughing. They keep talking, Tedder tells them to stop, turns around and asks what was said. Julia repeats it back: sometimes I just want to make a lot of money, be my own housewife. His call? That's the song. And that's "Housewife."
