Vela Nova struck in Gulf of Oman

@jolyonEarly this morning in the Gulf of Oman, U.S. forces intercepted a Panama-flagged ship trying to breach the American blockade of Iran's ports. Maritime security firm Vanguard says the Vela Nova, a containership, was struck by a missile 71 nautical miles off Pakistan's coast. The crew disregarded multiple warnings, so a U.S. military helicopter then fired on the rudder. No casualties have been reported, and it looked like the vessel was attempting to offload its crew onto another civilian ship after the hit. #Iran

The image shows a marine tracking map with a pop-up window displaying information about a vessel named VELA NOVA. The map shows numerous ship icons of various colors, indicating different vessels, and a yellow line tracking the path of the VELA NOVA. The pop-up window provides details such as IMO number, MMSI, callsign, date, coordinates, speed, heading, navigational status, nearest port, ETA, vessel type, destination, country, build year, and deadweight. The mood is informative and technical, like a screenshot from a maritime tracking application. A notable detail is the "Navigational Status: Not under command" which suggests a potential issue with the vessel. The pop-up window has the title "VELA NOVA" with the Panamanian flag.
